  • Overview

    The Clinical Trainee must be knowledgeable of professional and ethical standards regarding the delivery of mental health services in general and behavior therapy services in particular.  Knowledge and experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders is highly desired.  The Clinical Trainee must also be effective working within a team structure and able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

     

    The Clinical Trainee takes a leadership position in the organization and assumes professional responsibility for the competent, high-quality, and ethical delivery of Early Intensive Behavioral Therapy Services.  The Clinical Trainee works within a team of Mental Health Professionals and Practitioners to design, deliver, evaluate, and report Partners’ clinical services to the public at large.  The Clinical Trainee works closely with the Clinical, Management, and other Administrative staff in the development of Partners’ policies and procedures.  The Clinical Trainee is a community liaison with other service providers, county and state agencies, and associated educational and medical providers.  This position may require the Clinical Trainee to work offsite and outside of Partners’ center hours.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct Diagnostic Assessments (DAs) and Diagnostic Addendums on incoming clients and annual DAs on current clients across MN sites.
    • Conduct individual and family therapy sessions as needs are identified by the treatment team either at Partners or in-home, depending on the needs of the family.
    • Develop curriculum and marketing and conduct support groups for parents, siblings, etc.
    • Complete the CASII, ECSII, and SDQ, as necessary and enter them into MN ITS.
    • Attend required supervision - will be provided once per week for one hour and as needed by the Mental Health Professional.
    • Will observe clients on a monthly basis or as needed to review progress for individual and family therapy clients.
    • Will attend Client reviews when appropriate for individual and family therapy clients.
    • Attend PAAs, including observing the child and completing parts of the parent portion
    • Conduct overlaps/COREs/skills assessments
    • Trainings for staff development
    • Will write/review client CPCs, if needed for individual and family therapy clients.

     

    Communications

    • Communicates in a clear, respectful, and professional manner.
    • Communicates effectively in written and verbal forms.
    • Immediately (within 24 hours) reports all incidents of suspected abuse or neglect of any child or vulnerable adult according to Department of Human Services Rules and Regulations and Partners In Excellences Policy and Procedure.
    • Relays information to other Clinical Team Members in a timely manner.
    • Models and fosters a team-orientated approach to understanding and implementing ideas regarding the design, implementation, and evaluation of Partners In Excellences clinical program.
    • Notifies the Mental Health Professional, immediately of any problems, concerns, or serious grievances.
    • Prepares recommendations for Policy and Procedure adaptations, additions, and changes and reports these to the Mental Health Professional.
    • Maintains communications with other professionals serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

     

     

     

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Complies with Mental Health rules and regulations.
    • Continues to develop necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to expand and solidify their professional mental health competencies.
    • Maintain respectful and professional standards when discussing employees and employee information with other Partners supervisory staff.
    • Follow and implement HIPAA Rules and Regulations, state and federal confidentiality rules, and the privacy standards as discussed below.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree, working toward professional licensure in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling
    • Complying with the requirements of licensure or board certification as a mental health professional, (does not include mental health rehabilitative professional), including supervised practice in the delivery of mental health services for treatment of mental illness

     

    HIPAA and Data Privacy Responsibilities

     

    In order to effectively fulfill the duties of a Clinical Trainee with the State of Minnesota, you will have access to protected health information (PHI) of many of Partners’ clients. It is your responsibility to be fully knowledgeable of Partners in Excellence’s Privacy Policies and Procedures and to report any violations to your supervisor or the Privacy Official (see Partners’ Privacy Policies and Procedures Manual – Staff Compliance and Sanctions). It is the responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist with the State of Minnesota (SLP) to protect Partners’ clients’ privacy at and away from work.

     

    Work Environment

     

    The Clinical Trainee is assigned to work at the Partners In Excellence’s center based programs. The Clinical Trainee may be required to travel from site to site, conduct client home visits and complete work from home depending on the needs of the organization.
